Un-Valentine's Day.

So Valentine’s day is around the corner, and soon the whole town is going to turn red! Teddy bears, roses, chocolates, cards will suddenly be the only things available in most shops, and offers like “Buy two chocolates, get a heart shaped keychain free” will start popping out all around. I, personally have nothing against Valentine’s Day as such, but when that annoying countdown begins, I lose it, because you’ll get forwards on your Whatsapp groups reminding you that it’s Rose day, Chocolate day, Teddy bear day, Hug day? PROMISE DAY?? What does that even mean? (I swear I have nothing against Valentine’s day)
But if you relate to the above lines, most likely you are single, and that’s okay my friend (if that makes you feel better!) And if all your friends are dating and have plans for the day, do not be disheartened because you have the ability to make your day better.
Here’s a list of things you could do:
1.Gather “The Single People” Army!
Go hang out with the people who are facing the same situation as you are! Grab a bite at a restaurant of your choice and discuss about how annoyed you are about the whole over hyped Valentine’s day. If you have a huge gang you could even have a house party, put on some music and dance the night out.
2.Be Your Own Valentine.
Pamper yourself with things you love, so go buy that ZARA top you were planning to buy later this year. Buy the things that make you happy. You could even spend the day at a spa, get that relaxation and peace of mind that you deserve. In short, just don’t think and spend on the little things that make you happy.
3.An Extra Day for The Work-o-holics!
And if you’re really busy and your deadline is around the corner, you could entirely concentrate on your work, and reduce the workload for the next day. You could spend the day completing all those important tasks for which you had no time earlier, or you could do some household work, such as cleaning your closet etc. And after the work is done, you can relax the next day as you watch your friends, who went for their dates the previous night, struggle to complete their assigned work. *insert evil laugh*
4.Get A Makeover.
A haircut is enough to change your mood in no time. So if you’re all upset that you have no plans this V-Day, go Salon Crazy! (This applies for men too) Get a manicure, pedicure anything that helps you boost your mood. Or you could just hit the gym, burn those calories and get a fit look. (It’s a blessing that you don’t have a date, because you get no chocolates, look how much calories you’re avoiding)
5.Feel Good Tasks
These are the things that make you feel good from the inside, they are not as difficult as you think they are, you could take a homeless kid to McDonald’s and buy him a happy meal, buy chocolates for the beggars on the traffic signals, or you could let your mom take the back seat for a day, and you could cook dinner for your family and make them feel loved. These are some things that would make you feel pretty content at the end of the day.
6.Movie Marathon + Ice cream
This is the option the most of us opt for at the end of the day, wherein you get into your pyjamas, don’t care about how messy your hair looks, rent a bunch of movies (mostly rom-coms) and watch it while you sit with a family pack of an ice cream and with a steel spoon in your hand. A little crying is to be expected when a sad scene is playing on the screen, yes it does give you the “lonely” vibes, but it does help you discover yourself, as you yourself are your own company, and if you can spend time alone with yourself, that’s appreciable, because a very few people can do that. (You go Girl/Boy!)
Well that’s all for this year’s list, and I really hope the next valentine’s day, you don’t have to refer to a list of this kind. *wink wink*
But Date or No Date, it doesn’t matter because as long as you’re sending out love to the world, you’re going to get it all back!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
