Thinking about Imagination

Do you dream with sight? Do you understand what colors are? Do you have any sensation of light?

Whenever we meet a visually challenged person , we always tend to make an empty conversation by asking the aforementioned questions. Isn't it ? Have we ever thought of asking something unconventional , something that would make them mull over or something that would excite them and instead make them happy while answering? No, right? So the plan was to ask something different. The plan was to listen to their internal monologue when it came to defining ART.

It was all together a new experience to know what a deep term like Art meant to them. For a regular person like me, Art could mean a lot many things. Art means Going wild , having fun and being crazy. Art also means experiencing a baby's first fetal movement, seeing a hungry child being fed by his mother, drenching in the first rain of a particular year, walking all alone along the sea and touching a grunt's finger. For a painter, lettering on a canvas could be a form of art. For a dancer, expressing his/her feelings freely, through a dance act could be a form of art. For a chef , expressing his/her love to his/ her loved ones by cooking them a meal could be a form of art. For a writer, sitting in his/her writing nook and penning down the thoughts could be a form of art. For a singer, singing on the stage while his/her aundience claps , could be a form of art. For a traveller , exploring new places, learning about different cultures, living with new people could be a form of art. By stating such examples, I wanted to make one thing clear. Art means different things to different people. The diversity is just astounding.

Ever wondered what Art could mean to the blinds? Ever wondered how would they describe art when they haven't seen anything in their lives for they were blind since birth? No, right? When I asked Azar about the concept of ART, the answer he gave left me speechless. For him , ART IS A THING OF IMAGINATION. He loved imagining different things. The process of imagination pleased him, made him happy. So for him, the concept of art is nothing but whatever pleases him. It also enhanced every aspect of his brain and made him feel no less than the others.

Through the film , I basically wanted to give out the message that visually impaired people could have a very different outlook on different subjects that would just make you amazed in the end. They are the type of people who have a lot more to them than meets the eye. So talk to them , know their perspective on topics like Art , culture, diversity etc.
