We’ve all known someone who is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) on sitcoms and I’m sure we have a few friends who identify themselves as LGBT. Some of them hide who they truly are because the environment around them makes them feel horrible, they are victim to bullying, they are mis-gendered in public spaces and are laughed at. Umang, Humsafar Trust and Yaariyan are a few groups that take the initiative of creating safe- spaces for the community by organizing various activities and inviting straight allies or supporters to join in and coexist. We’re all humans, created in love and for love. So revel in the marvelous fact that you are resisting convention by being true to who you are.
